Shenandoah National Park Spend the Day!  The best way to set this day up is to start early! The Swift Run Gap entrance to the park is about 10 miles from Massanutten Resort. I recommend following Skyline drive and stopping at the lookouts! Here are a few of my favorites!

*The Point Overlook Mile 55.5 (There is a short trail to walk down to the cliff, do it! Its so stunning!)

There are several other lookouts along the way look out your car window and enjoy!

**Stop at Harry F Byrd Visitor Center. Here there are Wildlife exprets to guide you where to trail and maps.

There is a lunch area to grab picnic items and restrooms.

***Choose your trail and go! I recomend Big Meadows for littles, it goes for miles and it is flat! It has deer galore and wildlife. If you want a waterfall! Trail on Dark Hallow Falls, My family has trailed it twice. All ages can do it if they are use to walking a lot.

****After your trail, Go to Big Meadows Lodge for lunch or dinner, beautiful outside deck to eat or eat inside for a cozy atmospheres! Great food!

Helpful ideas: So, the park entrance is about 15 minutes, the first lookout I recommend is 15 minutes from the entrance, The visitor center is about 10 minutes from the lookout and Big Meadows and The Dark Hollow Falls are in walking distance from the visitor center. The Big Meadows Lodge is right near the Visitor Center.

Bring backpacks with water, snacks, wipes, bug spray and sunscreen! Maybe a scavengr hunt for the littles with things they can circle and find....

I recommend leaving for the day around 9/10am.... site see on skyline, stop at the visitor center grab food and get information, pick a trail, come back to visitor center to ask any questions, then head to a great meal at the lodge. This is definietly a day of 7/8 hour day.
